According to the legend, the Cusco sacred city and
capital of the Empire of the Tahuantinsuyo, it was
founded around the XI and XII centuries d.C, by Ayar
Manco. According to bill the legend was 4 brothers
in search of the valley of the Cusco, of which Ayar
Manco was the founder and first Inca of the Tawantinsuyo.

Cusco
was the center of government of the four extensive
regions or Suyos of the fabulous Incan Empire,
that it ended up embracing great part of what
is Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, Bolivia, Argentina
and Chile. The Incan society was an admirable
example of political-social organization,
for its big knowledge in architecture, hydraulic
engineering, medicine and agriculture. |
March 23 of 1534 Francisco Pizarro founded on the
city of the Cusco a Spanish city that was built on
the Inca foundations. Cusco is therefore, a typical
example of cultural coalition having inherited architectural
monuments and works of art of incalculable value.
In the viceroyship Cusco big rebellions were happened
against the Spanish domain, as that of José
Gabriel Condorcanqui (Túpac Amaru II) in 1781,
that of the Angulo brothers and that of Pumacahua
in 1814.
Cusco is the archaeological capital of America, it
was the capital of the Inca Empire. It is to a height
of 3,360 m on the level of the sea, surrounded of
its 4 apus (snowy) : the Ausangati, the Salqantay,
the Pachatusan and the Wanakauri.
